ABOUT THIS QUALIFICATION
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

- CHCMHS001 - Work with people with mental health issues
- CHCLEG003 - Manage legal and ethical compliance
- HLTWHS003 - Maintain work health and safety
Elective Units
- CHCAOD001 - Work in an alcohol and other drugs context
- CHCADV001 - Facilitate the interests and rights of clients
- CHCCCS006 - Facilitate individual service planning and delivery
- Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) OR
- Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) OR
- Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
- Minimum age of 18 years and above
- Have physical attributes suitable for placement in the community service industry that encompasses manual handling of equipment and clients.

Note: Results older than two years are not acceptable (for offshore applicants) . OR
- Evidence that they have studiedin English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand,Republic of Ireland,South Africa, United Kingdom or UnitedStates OR
- Evidence that, within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or Certificate III or higher-level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework. OR
- Applicants originating from students visa assessment levels 1 and 2 countries without the required IELTS or equivalent score must undertake the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test. For further information on student visa assessment levels visit Department of Home Affairs' website at www.homeaffairs.gov.au.
Additionally, the learner is required to:
- Complete the Pre-Training Review which aims to identify training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the courses to learner and relevant experience.
- Applicants originating from students visa assessment levels 1 and 2 countries without the required IELTS or equivalent score must undertake the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test. For further information on student visa assessment levels visit Department of Home Affairs' website at www.homeaffairs.gov.au.
The learner must also provide prior to commencement of Work Placement allocation for the following:
- Provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance / Australian Federal Police Clearance Certificate (AFP) / NCC.
- Provide a Working with Children Check.
Other Conditions
- Students required to invest approximately 8 hours a week of self-directed learning to complete self-study and assessments during the training weeks and does not include term breaks and work placement
